Doug’s Friday Feature: Celebrating International Literacy Day 2025 at The Data Lodge

To Our Community of Data Leaders and Learners,

As we approach International Literacy Day, I reflect on why this moment matters so much to all of us working with data and AI. For decades, International Literacy Day has served as a reminder of the power of language and the importance of learning. Today, with AI dominating conversations in every sector, it’s clearer than ever: there is no AI without data.

That’s why The Data Lodge is bringing attention to the mindset and shared language we all need to thrive in a world where data underpins nearly everything. Whether you’re in higher education, the professional world, or still in school, this work touches your daily life. And the timing couldn’t be better.

Why The Data Lodge? Because we’ve built our methodology around one simple belief: everyone is a data person, even if they don’t see themselves that way. Through our philosophy of I
nformation as a Second Language® we help organizations find common ground, shift culture, and empower people with both the confidence and the mindset to engage with data.

What should you expect if you join us? Inspiration. You’ll hear from speakers across our community who will connect these ideas directly to your working life and even your home life. It’s about showing how data and AI literacy aren’t abstract concepts, they’re skills that shape the way we all live and work.

At Data Society Group, we sit at the intersection of people and data. This event reflects that mission. Across our ecosystem, comprising The Data Lodge, Data Society, CDO Magazine, and Inspired Minds, we convene leaders and practitioners to connect, learn, and take action. From enterprise upskilling in Excel, data visualization, R, Python, and AI, to leadership summits bringing together CDOs and CLOs, every initiative reflects our commitment to equipping people with the knowledge and mindset they need.

If there’s one thing I hope leaders walk away with after Data Literacy Day, it’s this: success starts with mindset.

I’m excited to see our community come together, both on Zoom and in conversations, as well as in action. I hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a meaningful and energizing event.

See you soon,
Doug Llewellyn
